Growing In Faith and Learning

'Growing in Faith and Learning' 'Life in all it's fullness' John 10:10

Welcome to St Leonard's CofE Primary School

Welcome to St. Leonard’s Church of England Primary School. We hope our website gives you a flavour of our vibrant, happy school and the achievements of our delightful children. We are a thriving church school in the picturesque village of Wigginton with a strong Christian ethos, growing in faith and learning. We passionately believe in developing the ‘whole child’ and ensure all children have the opportunity to reach their goals and shine in their own unique and wonderful way. Our kind, caring and dedicated team nurture, motivate and encourage our children to be confident and well-rounded members of their community. I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of St. Leonard’s, a place where children develop a passion for learning, feel good about themselves, are proud of their achievements and create lasting memories of friendship and connection in our school family. I warmly invite you to come and visit us at St. Leonard’s Mrs Kirsty Cullen, Headteacher.

    Fri 20 May 2016

There has been a lot going on in school this week.  Tuesday and Thursday morning we hosted a 'Big Brekkie' morning to raise money for Christian Aid.  It was great to see so many parents and grandparents in school enjoying their breakfast with the children.  We also sold pancakes to the children at breaktime, along with cakes and biscuits kindly made by Kathy Sneddon.  A big thank you to everyone who helped to raise an amazing £300.

Kingfishers and Owls enjoyed taking part in a Royal Art Day, and Kestrels and Falcons enjoyed their visit to the Gurdwara.

The children in Year 5 have received Play Leader training, ready for using the new play equipment that we have purchased.

On Friday we held a 'Superhero Day',  based on the topic in Robins.  It was great to see the children and staff dressed up in so many different costumes.

Year 6 have completed their SATS this week. We are very proud of all the children and the way they have behaved throughout the week, staying calm and focussed. They all enjoyed Friday when they came to school in their onesies and had lunch from McDonalds.

Rev Deb came into school and had a look at the Clay Dragons made by Kingfishers, she was very impressed. Robins class were very lucky to have a visit from a Naval Officer as part of their topic on Superheroes.

Owls and Kingfishers spent the morning learning about capacity and enjoyed using water, sand and blocks to show different measurements.

Tri golf started after school on Thursday and everyone involved had a great time. The children have also enjoyed using the new play equipment at playtimes.

Falcons have been doing their final preparation ready for their SATS next week.  We would like to wish them all good luck.
