It has been a busy 2 weeks in school:
Robins
Robins have had a fabulous couple of weeks settling into their new class. They have been working hard to develop their phonics skills, listening carefully to different sounds or phonemes. The children have enjoyed counting and are developing their number recognition. This week has been really exciting as they have met their Buddies for the year. They are all really happy with their new Buddy and I am sure they will all have a fabulous year together.
Kingfishers
Topic - we walked around Wigginton and used our maps to find the different points of interest.
English - writing descriptions of our bog babies and their homes.
Maths - using part-whole models for partitioning.
Science - we started our Materials theme by labelling items around school and describing them.
RE - we made stick puppets for role play after hearing the parable of the Lost Son.
Owls
In Owls we have been learning to find 10, 100 and 1000 more or less than any given number. In English, we have written a diary entry as if we were Howard Carter. Our science topic this half term is all about electricity. We have looked at how electricity is generated and how we can use it safely. In topic, we have looked at a range of Egyptian artefacts.
Falcons
Falcons have had a very busy and exciting couple of weeks. As their parents are aware, they have all started learning to play either the trombone or the cornet - I’m sure the children are loving it! They have also now been given a buddy and I’m sure they will all be excellent role models for their little ones. In our learning the children have worked really hard to make a children’s TV programme all about ‘Light’ which they will be presenting to Kingfishers.

Welcome back to the new school year. We hope you have all had a wonderful time spending time together with your children over the holidays. The children have all returned with smiles on their faces and have quickly settled back into the routines of school life. I'm sure you'll all agree that they look really smart in their new school uniforms.
It has been wonderful welcoming our new children into Robins, we are so proud of how well they have already settled.
