Growing In Faith and Learning
Raising money for charity is an important part of life at St. Leonard's because it allows our pupils to live out our Christian values in a meaningful way. Inspired by the teachings of Jesus in the Bible, we encourage our children to show compassion, generosity, and service to others. Through supporting charities such as Children in Need, the Foodbank and Save the Children to name a few, our school community works together to make a positive difference, helping our pupils grow into caring and responsible individuals.
Below you will see some examples of the fundraising we've done this year, and some from the previous few years.
We teach the children that charity is more than giving money to others; it can be giving up your time for those in need. Each year, the children in our school design Christmas cards for every house in our village and then proudly deliver them with a huge smiles on their faces!
Our children once again displayed determination and generosity in our 2026 Lenten Appeal. As always, the classes were set the challenge of raising money for our local church, St. Leonard's. This year, the church said that any money would go towards some-much needed electrical repairs so that parishioners from the local community can continue to visit church, even in the coldest of months.
Each class set up their own fundraising challenge. We had times tables challenges, kindness challenges and even a very impressive matchbox challenge from our Year 4 and 5 pupils. We raised an impressive £234.73 - a huge thank you to the children and their families.
Each year, the period of lent is a special time in our school. All of our Christian values are important to us, but none more so than community during this time, as we dedicate the few weeks to helping those around us. Each class comes up with their own idea to raise money for our local church, St. Leonard's, to help with a special project and last year, it was to raise funds to repair the roof.
Below you'll see some of the amazing ideas the children came up with. They raised over £400 towards the roof repairs, showing dedication and generosity. We had many events organised by the children themselves, including a sponsored bike ride, art sales and a cake shop at breaktime.
Owls and Falcons classes packed over 2000 meals (in 60 minutes) to feed children in deprived areas all around the world.
