Growing In Faith and Learning

'Growing in Faith and Learning' 'Life in all it's fullness' John 10:10

Welcome to St Leonard's CofE Primary School

I am delighted to welcome you to our website. I am proud to be the Headteacher at St. Leonard’s CofE Primary & Nursery School. We are located in the beautiful village of Wigginton and have a very strong community who are keen to support our school. Our strong Christian ethos underpins everything we do and everyone associated with our school is committed to helping our children ‘Grow in Faith and Learning’. Catherine Young- Headteacher.

We always encourage families to arrange a school tour before making a decision on which school they choose for their child's Education. We usually operate an open morning/afternoon so that you can come on a tour, meet with Mrs Young- our headteacher and have the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.

This year, like everything in our world at the moment, this is more challenging.  If you want to visit our school, please call the school office to arrange an appointment. The school tour will be brief so that we can protect our pupils and we ask all visitors to wear a mask throughout the visit. Subject to fine weather, a more in-depth conversation with the Headteacher can take place outdoors at the end of the tour.

Please also feel free to contact us via email or telephone if you have any questions.

Please see below the link the latest Government guidance regarding schools appeals during the COVID-19 restrictions.

Infant Class size Legislation

In 1998 the Government introduced these regulations. They make it illegal for there to be more than 30 children in infant classes where there is only one teacher. This is called the Infant Class Size Initiative.

Infant classes are those classes of children who will be aged 5, 6 or 7 by the end of the academic year. This covers Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes.
