'Growing in Faith and Learning' 'Life in all it's fullness' John 10:10

Welcome to St Leonard's CofE Primary School

I am delighted to welcome you to our website. I am proud to be the Headteacher at St. Leonard’s CofE Primary & Nursery School. We are located in the beautiful village of Wigginton and have a very strong community who are keen to support our school. Our strong Christian ethos underpins everything we do and everyone associated with our school is committed to helping our children ‘Grow in Faith and Learning’. Catherine Young- Headteacher.

Owls

Welcome to Owls!

Owls is a mixed Year 3 / 4 class taught by Mr Postlethwaite, Mrs Hateley and Mrs Bryan.

Topic

Our topic for this half term is called 'Lights, Camera, Action!'. We are going to be learning about the history of film and we are going to be creating our very own movies.

Reading

We encourage the children to read everyday and to make a note of any reading they complete in their reading records, which will be checked each morning.

Six Book Reading Challenge

In Key Stage 2 each year group has the opportunity to complete the six book reading challenge. Each year group has 6 books that they have to try and read before the end of the year. These books can be read independently by the children or with an adult’s support. Once the children have completed all of the books, they will receive a medal and certificate in family worship. Your child will bring their first reading challenge book home this week.

Times Tables

The children will have a times tables test every Thursday. The times table test will consist of multiplication and division facts.

Spelling Test

A spelling test will take place every Wednesday. The spellings your child needs to learn will be brought home by them each week.

PE

PE will be taught on a Tuesday and Friday this Term. PE kit should consist of a white polo shirt, navy or black shorts for indoors and tracksuit bottoms for outdoors, a jumper or hooded top for outdoors and trainers or pumps suitable for physical activity. No jewellery should be worn on PE days. On these days the children need to come to school in their PE kits.
