Growing In Faith and Learning

'Growing in Faith and Learning' 'Life in all it's fullness' John 10:10

Welcome to St Leonard's CofE Primary School

Welcome to St. Leonard’s Church of England Primary School. We hope our website gives you a flavour of our vibrant, happy school and the achievements of our delightful children. We are a thriving church school in the picturesque village of Wigginton with a strong Christian ethos, growing in faith and learning. We passionately believe in developing the ‘whole child’ and ensure all children have the opportunity to reach their goals and shine in their own unique and wonderful way. Our kind, caring and dedicated team nurture, motivate and encourage our children to be confident and well-rounded members of their community. I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of St. Leonard’s, a place where children develop a passion for learning, feel good about themselves, are proud of their achievements and create lasting memories of friendship and connection in our school family. I warmly invite you to come and visit us at St. Leonard’s Mrs Kirsty Cullen, Headteacher.

Kestrels

Welcome to Kestrels!

Kestrels is a Key Stage two class with Year 3 and Year 4 children, taught by Miss Batchelor Robbins and assisted by Mrs. Juxon.

Topic

Our first topic of the new school year is 'Roman Britain'. We can't wait to get started!

Reading Diaries

Please encourage your child to read often and discuss, predict and question your child's understanding of the text. Please ensure you have signed your child's reading diary and remind them to bring reading books and diaries to school every day. We will check the children's diaries every Monday.

Six Book Reading Challenge

The children are set the challenge of reading 6 books over the year. Year 3 and Year 4 have different sets to complete. These books can be read by themselves or read to them by an adult. Once they have completed all six, they will receive an award during a celebration assembly!

Times Tables

The children will complete a times table test every Tuesday. The children will be told which times table they need to learn and will receive a certificate when they have passed them. The test will be completed on the Times Tables Rockstar app this year.

Spellings

Spelling tests will take place every Tuesday. A list of the spellings your child needs to learn will be sent home. As it's an individual programme, children will move onto the next list in their own time, when they have got the spellings all correct. If they have got all of their spellings correct, we will move them on to the next set and we'll indicate this in their spelling book. If they have any wrong, please continue to learn that set and we'll retest them the following week.

PE

PE for this term will be on Tuesdays.  Please send your child into school in their school PE kit on these days. Also please make sure that jewellery is removed and long hair is tied back.

Water Bottles

Children should have a water bottle in school each day please.

Healthy Snacks

During playtimes, the children will only be allowed healthy snacks (no crisps, sweets, biscuits or nuts please).
