Growing In Faith and Learning

'Growing in Faith and Learning' 'Life in all it's fullness' John 10:10

Welcome to St Leonard's CofE Primary School

Welcome to St. Leonard’s Church of England Primary School. We hope our website gives you a flavour of our vibrant, happy school and the achievements of our delightful children. We are a thriving church school in the picturesque village of Wigginton with a strong Christian ethos, growing in faith and learning. We passionately believe in developing the ‘whole child’ and ensure all children have the opportunity to reach their goals and shine in their own unique and wonderful way. Our kind, caring and dedicated team nurture, motivate and encourage our children to be confident and well-rounded members of their community. I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of St. Leonard’s, a place where children develop a passion for learning, feel good about themselves, are proud of their achievements and create lasting memories of friendship and connection in our school family. I warmly invite you to come and visit us at St. Leonard’s Mrs Kirsty Cullen, Headteacher.

Welcome to Doves!

Doves is our Year 1 class, taught by Miss Bachelor-Robbins and assisted by Mrs Pallett.

Topic

Our new topic for this half term is all about 'Where We Live'. We have lots of lovely activities planned!

Reading Diaries

Please encourage your child to read often and discuss, predict and question your child's understanding of the text. Please ensure you have signed your child's reading diary and remind them to bring reading books and diaries to school every day. We will change them on Wednesdays.

NUMBOTS

All children will be receiving their log in details for Numbots, to help them practise their maths.  Log in details will also be been stuck inside their reading diaries.

Spellings

Spelling tests will take place every Friday. A list of the spellings your child needs to learn has already been sent home. As it's an individual programme, children will move onto the next list in their own time, when they have got the spellings all correct. We have new red spelling books that the children will bring home with them each week. If they have got all of their spellings correct, we will move them on to the next set and we'll indicate this in their spelling book. If they have any wrong, please continue to learn that set and we'll retest them the following week.

PE

PE for this term will be on Mondays (inside - Gym) and Thursdays (outside - Games).  Please send your child to school wearing the appropriate PE kit on these days. Also please make sure that jewellery is removed and long hair is tied back. Thank you.

Water Bottles

Children should have a water bottle in school each day please.

Healthy Snacks

Free fruit is available for morning break. You may provide your child with additional healthy snacks (no crisps, sweets, biscuits or nuts please).

Free School Meals

Please remember that your child is entitled to a free school dinner up until the end of Key Stage 1.
