Family House Captains and Sports Leaders – Job Description
Our Family House Captains and Sports Leaders are positive role models within our school community. Working closely with Ms Bryan, they play an important role in promoting teamwork, inclusion and a love of physical activity across the school.
Purpose of the Role
To inspire and encourage all pupils to take part in a wide range of opportunities, particularly in Physical Education (PE), school sport and active play.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating excellent behaviour, teamwork and sportsmanship
- Encourage pupils of all abilities to take part in PE lessons, clubs and competitions
- Support the organisation and running of sports events, festivals and intra-school competitions
- Help to lead and organise active playtimes and lunchtime activities
- Motivate and support younger pupils to build confidence and try new activities
- Promote fair play, respect and inclusion at all times
- Represent their house with pride and responsibility
- Share ideas with Ms Bryan to help improve sporting opportunities across the school

Action Plan:
Autumn Term
- Introduce ourselves in assembly as House Captains and Sports Leaders.
- Help organise and lead playground games at lunchtimes.
Spring Term
- Gather pupil voice: ask children what sports and activities they would like.
- Promote active breaktimes and new games.
- Work with OPAL leaders to help implement OPAL across school.
Summer Term
- Support with Sports Day (setting up, leading events, encouraging others)
- Celebrate participation and recognise effort across all houses.
- Reflect on what has gone well and suggest ideas for next year.
