JOB DESCRIPTION - SCHOOL COUNCIL 

Our school council is a representative group of children chosen by their peers to discuss and influence decisions affecting their school life. 

The following job description outlines the typical roles, responsibilities, and qualities required for a School Council Representative.

Role Purpose

To act as the "voice" of the students, representing their views and working with Mrs Cullen to improve the school environment.

 Main Responsibilities

  • Represent Classmates: Regularly listen to ideas and concerns from fellow pupils in your class and share these at council meetings.
  • Attend Meetings: Be present at scheduled meetings each term to debate and vote on upcoming school initiatives.
  • Communicate Feedback: Report back to your class after meetings to keep them updated on decisions and upcoming events.
  • Organise Events: Help plan and lead fundraising activities, charity days, and school-wide events like anti-bullying weeks or eco-projects.
  • Liaise with Staff: Work alongside senior leaders, the headteacher, and teachers to discuss policies like school uniforms, lunch menus, or playground improvements.
  • Act as an Ambassador: Represent the school during assemblies, open evenings, or when showing visitors and potential new staff around the site. 

Essential Skills & Qualities

  • Good Listener: Able to pay attention to others' opinions, even those they might disagree with.
  • Confident Communicator: Comfortable speaking in front of a class or a group of teachers to share ideas clearly.
  • Positive Role Model: Always setting a good example through excellent behaviour and a respectful attitude.
  • Organised: Capable of managing their time to attend meetings and complete assigned tasks.
  • Team Player: Willing to work with other representatives and staff to achieve common goals.

These pupils meet half termly to help continue to improve the school.

 

The School council are led by Mrs Cullen and will focus on improving the physical school environment, fundraising and ideas to help children to have the best learning opportunities.

Worship Committee

JOB DESCRIPTION - WORSHIP COMMITTEE


Our Worship Committee is a group of children who help plan and lead worship in our school. Worship is a special time when we come together to think, reflect, pray, sing, and learn about our values.

The following job description outlines the typical roles, responsibilities, and qualities required for a worship committee member


Main responsibilities

As a Worship Committee Member, you will:

  • Help run worships

  • Share ideas about whole school and charity events 

  • Participate in community events

  • Suggest songs, prayers, and stories

  • Help lead worship in front of others (don’t worry—we’ll help you!)

  • Set up the worship table or special area

  • Share ideas to make worship interesting and meaningful

  • Listen to others’ ideas and work as a team

  • Help everyone feel included and welcome


Essential Skills

You don’t need to be perfect—just try your best! It helps if you:

  • Enjoy helping others

  • Like sharing ideas

  • Are willing to speak or help in front of others

  • Can work well in a team

  • Show respect and kindness

  • Try to be responsible and reliable

The worship committee are led by Mrs Lowe and will focus on the spiritual development in school and will help to plan and lead whole school worship, develop the prayer spaces within school, lead charity work and to provide support and guidance for other pupils in times of need.
