Growing In Faith and Learning

'Growing in Faith and Learning' 'Life in all it's fullness' John 10:10

Welcome to St Leonard's CofE Primary School

Welcome to St. Leonard’s Church of England Primary School. We hope our website gives you a flavour of our vibrant, happy school and the achievements of our delightful children. We are a thriving church school in the picturesque village of Wigginton with a strong Christian ethos, growing in faith and learning. We passionately believe in developing the ‘whole child’ and ensure all children have the opportunity to reach their goals and shine in their own unique and wonderful way. Our kind, caring and dedicated team nurture, motivate and encourage our children to be confident and well-rounded members of their community. I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of St. Leonard’s, a place where children develop a passion for learning, feel good about themselves, are proud of their achievements and create lasting memories of friendship and connection in our school family. I warmly invite you to come and visit us at St. Leonard’s Mrs Kirsty Cullen, Headteacher.

Art and DT

Seaside collages created by Year 2 in the style of artist Romare Bearden using a range of media - fabric, paper and paint.

St Leonard's Whole School Art and D&T Day 30th June 2023!

Our whole school art day was very successful again this year and we are excited to share what we did with you. The theme was weaving, and we have connected our art with our spiritual garden by thinking about how we weave Christianity into all that we do.

All of the pieces of artwork are installed in the spiritual garden at the front of the school. The artwork is interactive and we hope it is enjoyed by all. smiley

Curriculum Intent - Art and Design

Our intent for art is to not only model and teach the skills and knowledge for art, but also to nurture a passion for creativity and a development of their own personal ideas and growth. To provide a wealth of opportunities for experimenting with a variety of media, techniques and presentation. To have opportunities to explore the works of great artists.

Curriculum Intent - Design Technology

Our intent for design and technology is to give all children the opportunities to design, make and evaluate products using a variety of materials. To evaluate existing products, to break down the processes involved in making, to design their own creations and evaluate them against a design specification. We want to teach children to use a variety of tools, specific skills and techniques safely in order to make their designs. We also want them to have the opportunities to study key designers and be inspired by their works.

The lead teacher for Art and Design and also Design Technology is Mrs Lowe.  If you have any questions or suggestions please feel free to contact me either through the school office on 01827 213995 or by email at l.lowe@st-leonards-wigginton.staffs.sch.uk
