Growing In Faith and Learning
This week Kingfishers visited Tamworth Castle as part of their History topic on Castles. After visiting the Great Hall they went to the Armoury where they got to look at the different weapons and tried on chainmail and helmets. They even sat on the Lord and Lady's thrones.
Their first workshop was helping the servants lay the table ready for the Lord and Lady. They laid the table for dinner and found out lots of interesting facts, including what everything was made from. They even had to bow/curtesy when the Lady entered and couldn't sit down until she gave them permission.
After lunch they attended the Squire workshop. Here they met Master Lincoln, the Squire in charge of training the young men to be Knights. They learnt how to dress in a full suit of body armour and then stood in line and practised handling the lances, striking high and low.
