Growing In Faith and Learning

'Growing in Faith and Learning' 'Life in all it's fullness' John 10:10

Welcome to St Leonard's CofE Primary School

Welcome to St. Leonard’s Church of England Primary School. We hope our website gives you a flavour of our vibrant, happy school and the achievements of our delightful children. We are a thriving church school in the picturesque village of Wigginton with a strong Christian ethos, growing in faith and learning. We passionately believe in developing the ‘whole child’ and ensure all children have the opportunity to reach their goals and shine in their own unique and wonderful way. Our kind, caring and dedicated team nurture, motivate and encourage our children to be confident and well-rounded members of their community. I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of St. Leonard’s, a place where children develop a passion for learning, feel good about themselves, are proud of their achievements and create lasting memories of friendship and connection in our school family. I warmly invite you to come and visit us at St. Leonard’s Mrs Kirsty Cullen, Headteacher.

This week

It has been very busy in school this week, with Celebration Assemblies for Owls, Kestrels and Falcons. The children enjoyed the opportunity to show their Bangra dances and some of their work to their parents/carers.  See previous news item for details of the awards given.

On Wednesday the Reception children enjoyed a morning at Polesworth Abbey where they took part in the 'Living Nativity' story.

Thursday was 'Dress as an elf' day and the children looked fantastic in their costumes.  They even had a special visit from Santa and all received a present.  In the afternoon it was great to welcome parents, carers and grandparents into school for our carol-sing-a-long on the playground.

Our Talent Show was a great success and proves once again that St Leonards School really does have talent.  The children especially enjoyed the dance performance by the teachers and teaching assistants. Well done to everyone that took part and a special congratulations to our winners:

Robins:  Lilly Hill and Archie Statham for singing.

Kingfishers: Cameron Hunter, Danny Powell, Noah Lowery & Gabriel Ward for singing.

Owls: Monty Gambrell & Beau Holder for singing and Jessica Wildes for dancing.

Kestrels:  Holly Sutton, Jessica Byrne and Yasmin Turner for dancing together, and Conor Hopwood for dancing.

Falcons: Maddison Fernyhough & Nerys Moseley for playing the keyboard.

Friday afternoon the children really enjoyed going to the Castle Grounds to watch the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk. It was a lovely end to a very busy week.

Please have a look at the gallery page for lots of photos from the week.
