Growing In Faith and Learning

'Growing in Faith and Learning' 'Life in all it's fullness' John 10:10

Welcome to St Leonard's CofE Primary School

Welcome to St. Leonard’s Church of England Primary School. We hope our website gives you a flavour of our vibrant, happy school and the achievements of our delightful children. We are a thriving church school in the picturesque village of Wigginton with a strong Christian ethos, growing in faith and learning. We passionately believe in developing the ‘whole child’ and ensure all children have the opportunity to reach their goals and shine in their own unique and wonderful way. Our kind, caring and dedicated team nurture, motivate and encourage our children to be confident and well-rounded members of their community. I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of St. Leonard’s, a place where children develop a passion for learning, feel good about themselves, are proud of their achievements and create lasting memories of friendship and connection in our school family. I warmly invite you to come and visit us at St. Leonard’s Mrs Kirsty Cullen, Headteacher.

This week

In Robins, The Winter Snow and Ice theme was launched with a lovely story about Betty and the Yeti.

Kingfishers completed work on their Autumn term text ‘Major Glad, Major Dizzy’ and enjoyed a 1950s/60s themed dressing up day.  There were some amazing costumers.  Their new theme will be Knights and Castles. In maths they are beginning to learn about multiplication and division.

Owls will soon be launching into their new theme of Water, focusing on Dick King Smith’s – The Water Horse. Owls are learning about the lifecycle of a flowering plant in science and have been improving their watercolour and chalking techniques to re-create Tree Frog artwork.

Kestrel's new theme of Africa was launched on Monday. The children are looking at the Meercat Mail text as a stimulus for some high level writing opportunities. In science they are learning about animals and their habitats. Their geography work will focus on the physical geographic features of Africa and they will be undertaking some traditional weaving in Art and DT.

In Year 6, the children have begun their new topic - Rainforests. The children will be studying some amazing texts including the ‘Wonder Garden’ and Eva Ibbotson’s ‘Journey to the River Sea’.
The children have already begun to research the river Amazon as well as continuing their work on fractions in maths.

On Friday we held the auditions for the talent show.  Well done to everyone that took part, you all performed brilliantly.  We look forward to seeing you perform on 25th January at Tamworth Enterprise College.
